After being with Adrian Flux for around 20 years they weren't competitive anymore.
Went through Confused.com - Hastings Premier. Slightly better quotes than compare the market plus 20 quids worth of Shell V power if you have an account. Also 30 quid cashback through quidco if it pays out.

Do comparison sites account for mods these days?

Awaits Dan from flux to post his usual reply! Does anyone actually use them?
I declared a stainless exhaust through Confused.com.
I'm so sure many people on here actually use Flux anymore. Nothing used to touch them years ago, now they take the piss with their quotes.

They most certainly do, and if you’ve got basic mods (stereo, aftermarket alloys etc) the quotes can be cheaper than specialists.

I won’t be using flux, am currently with privilege not sure if trying them as well would be any good.

was thinking trying:
Sky insurance
NFU

and possibly doing compare website!
which compare website have you lot found best?

I'm with sky now and renewed with them last year as it was cheaper than other quotes I got. Not often you can say that! Insuring a modified car is a pain in the arse though.

Compare the market, all the others I’ve tried aren’t really that great in terms of insurers and prices.

Awful customer service too. I thought Greenlight were pretty rubbish to deal with too. "Your friendly forum insurer" like they're going to be your friend when it comes to getting out of a claim...

I use flux. They've been alright with me but I've never claimed.
Just use the cheapest modified policy, dont have any loyalty

Try them all. Confused.com was best for me out of all the comparison sites.

Well so far waiting to here back from sky insurance.

my insurance provider so far said they would do the car but wouldn’t cover the car if I fit the shocks and springs due to lowering! But happy with ITG panel filter / braided brake hoses and audio!

spoke to nfu thinking they would be good, at first they was happy to offer insurance but needed to check about the mods, then after being on hold they got back not resale being happy about the mods but as I’d said I didn’t own my own house or able to get them more custom I then didn’t fit the bill and the car was then too old! But before checking about the mods offered a price shy of £600 fully comp!

but they’d be happy for me to go back once I own my own home for there home insurance and possiblythen get car insurance lol mention I’d not be going back for anything!

Hi.
I'm sorry to hear that some of you have had bad experience with ourselves. Please remember if anyone has any specific issues with ourselves then do please drop me a line.

I've just had my Greenlight renewal, it's gone pretty skywards so I think I'll be looking for a new insurer

I went with sky insurance in the end, they covered the car with the slight mods I’d done..

I did get cheaper but couldn’t take the insurance as they didn’t have a option fir mods so I finished the quote just to see!

my previous insurance company would do the air filter and brake lines but not the lowered suspension!

sky insurance get my vote so far!

Insuring 2 modified cars at 24 with 3 points and 1 non fault claim living in Bradford is fairly hard

I'm up for renewal in Feb and currently with Flux. My 172 barely turns a wheel until summer months so does about 2-3k a year and my megane is down to less than 8k miles a year now!!

Who do people use that are similar aged to me? I dont wanna know if youre 50, never been caught speeding and class only having an exhaust on your car "heavily modified" either please🙄😂

Genuine question though, who declares turinis and a ktec exhaust as modifications on their insurance?

I declared them last time around. Why wouldn't you?
I was just wondering where you draw the line really, going by insurers rules even if you had your standard alloys refurbed in a slightly different colour of silver its declarable.

Yeah you do raise a good point, I guess for most people that threshold is can the mod be seen/heard/clearly distinguished as being a mod?

I think a recessed ktec with 182 exhaust trim looks pretty factory😁

Mad how on certain cars its cheaper to get a modified policy and declare everything than going through compare the market or similar.

Guess its age dependant too.

Pure speculation, but it’s probably because owners of modified cars are more likely to drive in a certain manner (as they’ve spent good money on the car) compared to the average person who sees the car as white goods.

I found this to be the case with certain specialists as they only really insurance cars that are extensively modified. Whilst others were happy with the odd mod or two.

I reckon this is reflected in the stats for claims otherwise even the specialists would have us over a barrel! Age and postcode are definitely the biggest factors, when those are low risk things like NCB and past claims tend to play a bigger role IMO. Turning 25 this year was certainly a blessing!

You notice a big decrease when turning 25 then? I'm 25 this month so a drop in insurance price would be nice!

Currently paying about £640 on the 182 with all mods declared. Moving house did have a huge impact and I think I got a refund of about £150 halfway through the policy.

It's hard to be sure as I've had different postcodes for the last 3 years, but i'd say so.

One of the best things is getting third party cover/drive other cars cover, I didn't even ask for it with my new insurer and they offered it as part of the cover!

Didn’t you get the welcome to bradford starter pack? Insurance is optional here.

Nah for real try Pace Ward, I insure my 182 and Evo with them, works out just under a grand, 29, 6 points, 2 claims and BD postcode.
