ITG Air Filter smells of petrol, help!clean?

Noticed a smell of petrol in my car, and have looked at all the fuel lines and just noticed a strong smell from the air box. For some reason the itg panel filter stinks of petrol, is this normal and can i clean it?if so what with???
Car is a mk1 1.4 energy engine

aaaah rite cool, good luck mate i think they make em for all types of cars, theres a shed load of em!!!All i wanna do is clean mine but dunno what to use!!!

hmmmm but what with a bit of fairy liquid?any ideas why it would stink of petrol???

no ideas on the smell, if its washable just use water, think we have washed an air filter out with the petrol for nitro RC cars! then oiled it.

normal oil i guess, dont quote me on any of this i would check first! there is a bit about cleaning on the itg website but i cant clio on it search itg on google

'Fit & Forget' cheers for finding that mate, might just put it back then, although it does smell of petrol, or i clean it with the special itg stuff where i get that from i do not no!!!!

If it's one of the foam filters then i don't think you are meant to clean them. Can't say i've noticed any really strong petrol smell on mine, but they do go quite nasty when they've been in the car a while. The oil on them goes like a thick glue :dead: but thats normal though.

Hmmmm does yours smell at all?as iam now debating whether its petrol or not my mate (whos ill) couldnt even smell it and said it isnt petrol but im sure it is!!!
