itg air filter





im of to coventry next saturday to have the first itg filter for a 172 my mate has one on his integra and on th RR 7bhp and it only weighs 800grms ish
 


is this one of the sealed viper style ones ? if so would be interested in cost, power gain and seeing some piccys of it when its on :D
 


its fully incased and i know they work they are not cheep but there has been a lot of development work involved

it looks tidy, but i dont want to have to take out a fog light to put it in. can it be routed to the front lower grill? how much cash are we talking UK Pounds.
 


youd realistically be talking around 200 beer tokens for one

yes you can route the feed through the grille on the front bumper, this is where most people fit cold air feeds

Well, it may look very good, but there is no proof either way to way if its better or worse than the Viper or BMC

How much they gonna cost?!
 


as i stated above with the price

the tests that i have seen prove definite gains over both the viper and bmc cda

How much of a gain???

The stuff Ive done and BenRs done both show the Viper to give around 6bhp @ peak and up to 10bhp in the mid-range, with a good increase in torque too, so Id be very impressed if the Maxogen was better!

tested on Cavalier Gsi

Viper - 4bhp peak
BMC CDA - 6bhp peak
ITG Maxogen 9bhp peak

But the peak power figure is just a headline figure to brag about in the pub...

Its not the full story!

Im not doubting that the Maxogen isnt fantsatic, as it clearly is, but I dont think that there will be huge differences between these 3 carbon ones...

Be very keen to see a full power plot to compare, rather than just a peak figure!

ITG Maxogen between £270 and £400

VTS, CTR & 106GTI all about £330 so not cheap

Looks good and proven gains according to some sites

i dont see how this Maxogen kit can be that much better than a BMC CDA, mine is the most free flowing filter ive ever seen, if you blow through one end, not that hard i might add, you can feel it all come out the other side....

price for BMC for 172 should be about £180

i dont doubt that there very very good filters though, i know they are, do you have any tests from the 172 ?......
 


andy at itg has ask me to bring my own car so he can draw up instructions to include with the filter tha would make me think that my car was the first the cost will be £300ish

well as you well know mate the engine gets pretty hot, pretty quickly aswell

with mine i know for a fact my intake temps are a lot lower than they would be with an open filter

every bit helps, it should be pretty obvious to anyone that if the intake temps are lower, then even tho the turbo warms it up and the intercooler cools it down, if its cooler at the beginning it will be cooler at the end, than if i had say an open filter

Exactly if the turbo warms it up then is there really any point in a enclosed air filter, an open induction kit with a good kevlar heatshield around the turbo , is more than suitable for the gt turbo, money is better spent on cooling the air from the turbo with either a double capacity intercooler, which is what i had or a charge cooler but for the price of a chargecooler i dont rate them at all!
