ITG panel filter - cleaning?

Does it need cleaning and if so, how often and what with?

Mine's been in there for about 15k now. Just wondered if it needed a trip to the laundrette?

Cheers,
D.

Think you use a vac on to suck the crap off it but not sure, deffo wouldn't wash it, got some sort of oil on it hasn't it?

it says on the leaflet you get with it not to clean it, as it doesnt need it for one reason or another. obviously take out any big bits though

Much easier getting a new one to be honest. When you take out the ITG you will see how nasty the oil is, its like tree sap. Use disposable gloves when taking it out and have a plastic bag or something to hand to chuck it in.

Cleaning it is a pain, youve got to leave it soaking in petrol and then have to squeeze the oil out. Repeat the soak till the oil is out then you have to re apply a load of filter oil. for £40 I would get a new filter.

Yeah...the oil on ITGs is very sticky...I changed to a drier Green cotton one.

Whack it in a bucket of soapy water and leave to soak. That will clear all the crap. Then just coat it in Pipercross air filter dirt retention spray. Job done.
