ITG. whats the point?

  Leon Cupra 300
I've been looking at these, but what is the point in them?

After doing a search the main thing seems to be not having to replace it.:S

Are you on about the panel or complete kit?

Panel: Helps performance and airflow, and does not need replaced every service so also saves money in the long run.

ha i just swapped mine, had a universal open cone filter in, sounded great and havent seen any loss in power, now replaced with my itg panel filter and no difference, so im sticking with the cone filter for the beefy sound!!!

If you have an open filter sitting in the engine bay, you will get heat soak, I guarantee it.

I had a open filter for about a week, the car was very hesitant, sounded great though.

I had a cone filter on my 172 and i swapped it to an ITG panel filter !! I will tell you now i would never have a cone filter on my car again, the idle was awful ! the car was running awful and was very lumpy. With the ITG filter its alot better i will definately be sticking with there filters!

at stirling cruise jock was saying his 172 was a slow one and that gibsons pulls on him no problem, he opened the bonnet and what was under there... a K&N!

its a proven fact that it will suffer heatsoak in the clio engine bay, some people dont notice it because of the noise, some do.

I think the boys down @ bbpt might have something to say about that.

I can HONESTLY say i've lost NOTHING

A quick and easy way to find out if heatsoak is occuring is by doing some very simple tests.

If anyone on here is near Redbridge, Essex they can drive down and we can see what the reality is.

there's people here who cant even see the difference in having air con on and off so you'll never get a conclusive answer.

Facts:

My car suffers in the heat to the point where it feels sluggish and unresponsive.

An open filter without decent cold air feed will maybe be better when cold or when stationary on a rolling road with the bonnet open but on a warm day or when sitting in traffic its gonna soak with heat and have same effect as a hot day.

Heat soak my arse !!

A engines as cold as a fridge at 50 odd mph !!

As for the old ''i fitted a IK and my cars all lumpy and runs crap''.....take it you never got it mapped then ??

IK's get bad press cos they dont get fitted right or the fueling sorted half the time!!

hence why i said without a good cold air feed...

the fact that I noticeably feel the difference in the heat with the standard air box tells me there's no f**king way an open filter is not gonna be affected more so.

But then you might say if you have a open IK you wont have this heat soak because there's no where to 'store' the heat plus when you fit a IK 9 out of 10 times you uprate the cold air feed anyway.

to me IK's are like marmite. Some people love them some people hate them.

Going by the 1 million topics on this subject, no one can really come up with any conclusive proof other than a decent cold air feed works well with everything.

thats the thing, 9 out of 10 times u or I would but soooo many people dont do anything about a cold air feed.

hence the reputation, if you know what you're doing fair play but the majority dont and get no gains.
