Its Gone

Sold my throttle bodied 172 monster today :(

Was upset to see it go. Went to a good home.

Onwards and upwards, I suppose.

loved this car, saw it on pistonheads and at FCS and was absolutely mint.

it has sold quickly which is always a bonus :)

I part ex'd it for a saxo vts which i might keep as a run around for a while and then sell.

I got the vts + £4k cash for the car.

It was sold to Mehdi who used to have the mk1 on throttle bodies that's running 216bhp and is about 900kg.

Now i've gotta decide what I want to get next, whether to definately downgrade to a diesel or some shat or get something as quick or quicker than the 172.

Sounded and looked nice as he drove off though :(

dint think itd b long before he was back in a clio. lol
I wonder more how long he'll own it/tuner it more though?

He seems to go throught cars alsmost as quick as admits.

lol, he missed his mk1 I think. I think he intends to strip it out fully and track it.

The vts is actually I nice drive. Obviously not as quick but its got a fair bit of poke in it and is smooth, handles alright and seems quite a fun car to drive.

I will probably be selling it soon though.

Why did you sell it again? Surely you knew the costs of running it before you got the TB's? What a way to spend £4k!!!!

Chris, the GTA's are p**n... especially in White! :approve:

sorry to hear about your loss, we're here for you during these emotional times :(

  No more clio's for me!
:(

Sorry to see it go mate, didn't think you'd actually go thru with it tbh! nothing worse than see someone else driving away in your car when you've put your heart and sole into it, even tho you know its for the best. Been there myself :(

good luck with the VTS.

  ST on the way...
Diesel eh?

How about a Fabia vRS?

Some subtle mods (engine and suspension) and they're cracking motors!

It's probably for the best that we didn't swap. Deep down I want a bigger car and I'm probably going to get a 225 old or new in a year, so I'd only have lost more money. Glad to see you got what you were looking for it and sorry I couldn't shell out any cash!

Someone's got an absolute bargain there...

Thought you were selling for financial reasons, surely a GTA isn't exactly a money-saving exercise!

I am selling it for financial reasons, and I probably will be getting a diesel for a while but those gta's and many other cars are just catching my eye and making me think hard about whether its worth getting into a bit more debt to get one...

Don't know if it's worth it at 22 and a student with 2 part time jobs.

listen mate i dont know if its worth it at 27 with a mortagage to pay but you only live once and knowone can say for how long or how the latter parts of your life will be, the years go quicker as you get older there isnt really that much time to spend.

one things for sure, get that fast great sounding car nxt as diesel, electric cars are coming and petrol is only going to go up, our only hope is bioethonol less economy but 20% more power, easy to make the government will make loads on that (102ron) so we might be in luck.

but with pay per mile charging you may aswell go out with a bang, consider the next 5yrs of uk motoring the twilight period, you can always sell later on.

get a GTA ... ohh and put a autodelta quad pipe system on and carbon fiber intake, perhaps later on a ferrari throttle bodie (they sell them for the gta not too bad prices)

So why did you sell a TB'd 172 to spend more money and get an alpha romeo which is the only thing on the face of the planet that loses money faster than a renault?

What will all of that do?

My mate recently bought a GTA. Its damn quick and sounds amazing.

Something that it definately isn't tho, is cheap to run... he went from owning a vRS to the GTA and his mpg is about a 1/3rd of what he used to get lol. Servicing has also cost him a fair bit too already.

Still, if you're after a car thats a little different and puts a big smile on ur face every day then I'd highly recommend it :D

make an already sweet sounding roar into a ferrari sounding symphony m8. you sex you pants everytime you open her up.

remember about me saying though it cost about £70-£100 more a month ^^^ that guy has just said 1/3 the economy and high servicing, insurance is also higher.

so my final comment is again, get one but go into it with your eyes open buying a low milege one in mint condition (about £16k) fully knowing the extra costs are real and noticebly higher also, at the end of the day you dont get a 247bhp 3.2 V6 hatchback (which is a proper sports car really but in hatchback form not coupe) and expect it to be a cheap ride.

something doesnt add up to me.... spend 4k on a 172, get rid one month later saying running costs/debts are the reason, then start asking about leon cupra r's fiat coupes, and other faster (dearer)motors........

Yeah completely doesn't make sense. Hell of a way to spend £4k....i refuse to believe running costs were behind it,its not as if it does 10MPG. And surely all these 'running costs' were made apparant before getting the TB's?
