JB5 doesn't exist as far as I know? JB1/3 and JR5 are the similar ones. Ratios vary across boxes too depending on the version it is too not just the model..
dCi 65/80 used a JB3 or JC5 box neither of which are stronger, the dCi100 used a JR5 which beside being hydraulic cluted and cable operated isn't any stronger either tbh.
A JC5 does last just fine if treated with some mechanical sympathy ime.
JR5 wont fit a 172 either, JC5 is fine anyway as long as you know how to use it properly and not abuse it as long as your rev matching on down shifts and not rushing it into gear it wont go wrong!
All Renault Boxes inc JB3 / JC5 are equally as bad as each other. There isnt a "super" box you can fit. I recommend regular oil changes ( 75 / 80's semi synth ) and treat the box with respect.
Not sure if the TL4 box will fit of the 197 as the blocks are very similar ( F4R 736 - F4R 830 ) Will have to try it when ive got time. Im sure one can be adapted to fit.
