JC5 129 cup gear box, techy question

anyone know how to dismantle one???

i've got the bellhousing and gear casing split, but can't get them apart fully

i'm stumped!!

Its the same as the Williams one isn't it?
if so you cna download the guides on the WIlliams gearbox stripdown procedure from williamsclio (there a link somewhere for it)

which one is that??? the bigger one with the selector held on by the big nut??? or the smaller one with the star bolt??

5th gear is at the end , you take the cover off thats the final drive with the selector rod, i was watching the chap strip mine down , im sure he got the final drive off then it all came apart

do you know if he removed the selector arm under the box??

yeah he removed the arm, it wont come apart unless you do that.

final drive is the big ass gear when you take the white or black cap off the end of the box,

becareful of the plastic wheels in the box that drive the speed sensor there t***s to get back in if they fall out

got the spring off? split the box enough to see the selector arm on the other side of the metal circlip un there i think, how many malbough lights you been through tonight ?

You know the only reason this topics turned up is because you've probably threatened him to stop using his grinder. He could have this stripped down if you let Fred go with the grinder (not saying you've be able to put it together again though).

i just want to see the internals, and how they've responded to the abuse they've had!! the syncrhos are buggered anyway, i want to rebuild it, whether i have the ability is another matter!!!

Is there anyway you could drop a shorter 5th gear in?

I could get a lot more out of mine on track if it actually pulled in 5th but as standard it's way too long.

yep 5th on a seperate bit of th box so it could be done relitively easily.
