Jump/bump starting and recharging?

  GW RS200
OK, which if any of these things is impossible or dangerous to a ph2 172, guys?

* Bump starting it?
* Jump start either from or to another car with the battery connected?
* Recharging the battery with it still connected?

I guess these questions might be helpful to more people in the next couple of months, too!

Cheers,

Steve

all are possible, the charging whilst on the car if using an old charger can cause issues as they ramp the voltage right up unlike the modern chargers.

You need to be pretty daft to feck a car up jump starting it.

all are possible.. non are dangerous. If you manage to make such a simple task lifethreatening then thats Darwin in action.. You die because your stupid

Ahh I was under the impression that a jump start or charge might fry the ecu or sommat? Is there no chance of damage?

Thanks Fred, thats good to know, although I now feel slightly guilty at refusing to jump my neighbours car last night. As she was a woman she didn't know how to bump start a car. Of course I know, but can someone give an idiot's guide, just so I can check that they know, too :D

stick it in gear, clutch in, mate pushes, lift clutch with the key in the on position and bang off you go

doing it in 2nd/3rd is easier
