Jumpy steering and nasty noises! HELP!

Hi,

I have a 172 on a 52 plate which has just done 50k.

When i turn the wheels, ther steering seems to jump abit, however if i add a few revs (in neutral) and do the same the jumping isnt there.

I also have a noise when the car is started from cold, sounds a bit like a bearing but it goes after a while.

People have mentioned the aux belt, power steering pump or the steering rack could be the problem.

As for the noise, maybe the water pump or a cambelt tensioner?

Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

Check your power steering fluid level, it sounds like it may be low.

Could be the top bearing on the strut or worn ball joint or abs bushes

is the car due an aux belt service.
