Just been bought a D3000

Car  Fiesta ST-3
Hello guys, just been bought a Nikon D3000 by my sister for my 21st birthday. I am a complete noob when it comes to photography but I'm quite a quick learner and have already started shooting in RAW (as a result of reading Dans guide, cheers mate) and playing with apertures and shutter speeds. I know the D3000 is entry level for a DSLR and therefore perfect for me really. I'm just interested in any basic rules that I may have missed really, and a few points in the right direction at SD cards (as I've heard the quality is essential to the photos), filters, and any other essentials I may need.

Also, can anybody recommend me a cheap(ish) case/bag?

I have been playing around taking snaps of, well, nothing. But I'm starting to get to grips with settings due to the wonderful guides already in this section.

Cheers,
Chris.
