Just bought a Clio! Lots of questions

Okay so I got my Clio Expression in April, its my first car and I love it! Just a few things...

My front windscreen washers have stopped working! The back one works fine but front completely dead. They were working fine and just stopped. Since they stopped they have worked once for only a five second burst then stopped again. Anyone got any ideas?

My interior is creme - previous owner left it manky! I have used a few foam cleaners I bought from Halfords and it is definitely better but still not as clean as I would like. Any recco's?

What next.. erm... my service light and airbag light are on. Read a few places this is nothing major, something to do with wires under the seat? Anyone know much about this.

Ive seen a few Clios around which have silver bumpers -- how do they do this? Are they just sprayed or have they bought new bumpers, certainly thinking about doing this in the future.

the best way to add a picture is to go onto one of the sites which allows you to host like erm image shack or photobucket then copying the img code into the thread, or the url. as you for the service light and airbag, the reason your service light is on is because there is a problem with your airbag, do you know if it has gone off previousli??? havent got a clue wot ya mean bout the silver bits on the bumpers so will have to ask someone with more knowledge sorry, and if you talk to rich in the detailing section he will be able to tell you anything you need to know about cleaning as well as many others like ali and so on, anyway welcome to cs enjoy make sure you get some pictures up

Usual fault it the wires under the front seats, just have a play and see if the light goes off.

The problem is that if its not that the lights on because the cars been in a bump and set the airbags off at one point which will be £££ to fix. Would imagine its just the seat wiring though.

Hi,

Can answer a couple of the questions for you so here we go lol

Service Light - Look under the passenger seat and push all the connectors together nice n tight...should solv ur prob.

Interior - I have a grey interior in my expression and have found Simoniz interior cleaner cleans it up the best from Wilkinsons. If that fails you might want to buy a wet and dry vac from wixes (£40 ish) should suck the dirt out of your interior

Windscreen washers - not sure to b honest but im sure someone else will be along soon to help.

i hate the clio expression.

If your wondering about the silver bumpers, thats probably because theyre from the clio sport 172, or the 182. the standard clio, like yours and mine, just have plastic s**t bumers colooured black.

When i got my clio it stank, because the previous owner was a smoker

(i found a load of tab ends within the cover just in front of the steering wheel, and a biro pen which had been causing a rattle for about 4 months)

and she had a bug f**k off alsation hairy b*****d. Ive owned the car for nearly 2 years now and im still getting rid of the dog hair lol. Getting rid of the grime isnt easy and its a long process. Ive been though douzens of stain removers from halfords, the spray with the spikey thing on the end, and multiple bottles of fabreeze. you really need a lot of TLC and dedication into getting the car clean. Ive opened up every nuk and cranny in the car to get it as clean as i have. granted, it was only a few months ago that i was able to realy apreciate just what a clean car it was because of all the dirt.
If its totally grafted then your going to have to get some car shampoo. It might be worth, if you have the time, taking the seats out of your car and shampooing the entire damm car and then letting it dry, and then give it a good good hoover, then spray with some more car products like AutoGlym AUTOFRESH lol

Get a carpet cleaner and use it on the seats Did mine recently and it shifted about 3 years worth of mud from training lol

Autoglym interior shampoo is very good for meduim to light soiling . Failing that Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner should shift it . Also get one the Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner Bottles and Meguiars Foaming Sprayer .

my expression seats were like that, couldnt be arsed cleaning them because they still look horrible clean or dirty lol so i got a full dynamique one lol.

airbag light will 99% be the wires under the seat, and check to make sure the airbag is turned on (passengers side door, put the key in, turn it to on)

Cheers for the responses guys! Yeah I would rather take the Clio Dynamique - I love the seats - but hey ho seventeen y/o on a budget.

So I rooted around under my driver seat and it appears two of the wires have been cut! I will try and post a pic later. The wires under passenger side look fine. I've ensured tight connections, warning light still glows. Could the car fail an MOT on this?

Yeah I mean the "bump strips" black bits on the front, back and running down the wings. They look way nicer in silver.

I'll give a few of those interior cleaners a shot too.

One more thing ---- I have a Kenwood CD player how much are the adapters to get my audio controls near the steering wheel working and where can I get one from?

Airbags are not included in the MOT, but obviously you'd want to get those wires looked at ASAP! Did you get the car from a dealer?

You airbags have gone off, I am 99% sure of it.

You need to decide what you are going to do. I personally would just sell the car as fixing it will either cost you mega mega bucks or a bloody long time and 400 quid.

Not if they've changed the seats.

It might not be your airbags have gone off you need to get the car plugged in see what the warning light is realy.

The wires can be like that as part of the Renault wiring fix.

Ah well my seats were pretty manky so unless the warning light was on a while ago, would renault charge me for just a diagnostic, hooking up to their computer? Car way out of warranty as Y reg 2001!

Yep they'll charge you any garage might be able to tell what the fault code is though if they have computer diagnostics only certain ones are any good though hence why I'd got to Renault and ask them for help.
