It's awesome! :approve:

Really wish they'd play WMAs though, i like using that lossless format.

Need me some accessories now, feel free to name some good docking stations with built in alarm clocks.

That was quick! Are they the same size as the 1st gen nanos? Just more colours, bigger capacity?

I think the dimensions are similar but it has rounded sides like the ipod mini and a matt finish that hopefully wont scratch as much.

My 'rents only ordered it for my 21st the day that they came up on the site.

I think it's similar but it has something called gapless play or something. So if you've got a compilation cd that's mixed there wont be a gap between songs.

This will probably come as an update for the old nano

if your ripping a cd you can have lossless (apple format), alternativley you can use 320k mp3, or variable bit rate encoding...you cant really tell the difference between 320k mp3 and wav on headphones anyway :)

Well i'm just debating now whether to lower my bitrates to 192kbps to fit more on or just keep them at 320. I'm not too sure yet!

I got my 8gb nano last thursday, sound quality is much better than my 4G iPod.

As for ripping, rip to 128Kbps aac, it's far better than mp3. Don't transcode your files because they'll end up sounding nasty.

Bugger, lol. I've ripped about 40gb of music to my PC. Don't fancy doing it all again from the discs!

So what's the MP3 bit rate equivalent of 128kbps AAC?

>160Kbps mp3.

128 Kbps aac sound more than fine to my ears.

Luckily we have a 3 disc autoloader cd copier at work, I reverse-engineered the protocol on it and wrote a program to auto-load a stack of cd's and rip them in iTunes :) No user intervention required! :)

Loony they do an 80gb video one now, i think it's about the same price as the older 60gb one.

BTW, i dont know if it's just me but the gapless playback doesn't seem to glow 100% perfectly, there's like a few milli seconds gap between songs still but it's not really a problem.
