Just spent the best part of....

...£50 on cleaning goodies, then spent best part of 4 hours cleaning the outside of the car, and..... I'm still not happy with it!

Products used -

Megs Gold Class Shampoo
Megs Stage 2 Crystal finish Polish
Megs Gold Class Wax
Megs Nxt Gen Alloy Wheel Cleaner
Megs Deep Gloss tyre Shine

Tescos Micro Fibre Cloths (These are great and good value at just over £1 each)
Tescos Polish applicator pads
Megs Polish applicator pad
Tesco Value Dish sponge (To Apply the Tyre Gel)
Megs Alloy wheel Brush

Shiny Bonnet, 7 out of 10 -

Reflection in Rear 1/4, 9 out of 10 -

Over all finish, 7.5 out of 10 -

Not happy with the wheels, Think I'm going to remove them and give them a proper clean and apply some wheel polish and wax to protect them.

I Like the megs Shampoo and the Wax.... polish was ok but not great.

On my list of stuff I want is -

Tar remover
Alloy Cleaner
And Pot of Carnauba Wax that suits Silver

Recommendations welcome

What process do you go through to clean your car?

I went -

Rinse car with hose
Clean wheels
Wash with 2 bucket method
Dry with Micro Fibre
Polish
Wax

I dont get what Paint Primer is? and Whats Sealant? What stage should these be used? And If i was to Clay the car what stage should It be clayed?

Paint Primer is a primer sprayed on before the colour coat.A sealent seals the paint work applyed after your polish stage.For claying do it after you wash it using a good quality lambswool washmittalso foaming the car using a supersprayer of foam lance will make it much safer I find it better not to dry it use a clay lube or shampoo mix in a sprayer works just as well.Wax Collinite 476 is very good easy to use and last ages ive had 4 months out of two coats but my fave was is P21S not the longest lasting but over a good sealent it lasts abit better and looks great.For the alloys poorboys whell sealent is very good I have four coats on mind and with the pressure washer it comes about 70% clean.

Clay - Megs Clay Kit with Quick detailer
Polish - Auto Glym Super Resin Polish
Sealant - Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection
Wax - R222's

Yes just got into it.... Had company cars before this one so my "Detailing" used to involve me writing "Clean me" in the dirt on the boot lid. Not sure I want to go as far as buying a G220 yet... Money needs to be spent under the bonnet 1st.

If the Paintwork is not too Swirled then you won't really be needing a PC, Silver is an easy colour to get to Look Good BUT to give it a Real Deep Shine it is a Nightmare

For wax on a silver car I like Collinites 476 simply as it is high gloss, might mute the flake a little on other colours but on silver thats not an issue. Others like P21s but to be honest most waxes I have tried on silver don't really make that much difference like you would get on say dark blue or black cars.

Super Resin Polish is a good place to start though, and a claying is a must if you haven't done it before.

EDIT: as you say, buying a polisher straight away is a bit OTT and results you can get on a silver car aren't as dramatic as on other colours, I would probably save the money for now to be honest if your car isn't that swirled.

I was looking at the Dodo juice, Might give it a try, Have been reccomended Jeffs Acrylic Jett as well so might try that.

There are very few swirl marks as the car was Mopped (Not very well I might add) before I purchased it.

I have a few deep scratches I need to get sorted (Only about 1cm long here and there 3 in total) but think Ill put it into the shop to get that done.

Super resin does look superb on it, i like that and then CG creme glaze, CG nanotech seal and CG carnuba wax
