K&N air filter...

  Ford Focus ST2
does anyone have a k & n air filter fitted to there 182?

i know a lot of people on here choose itg filters, but i have had K & N before on my MG ZR!?

Does it make the car feel smoother, and is there any noise differents?

If not does the ITG one make any differents?

Itg is the only one that improves performance so i have heard, the rest are either to restrictive or have to much heat soak

It's a replacement filter, heatsoak isn't an issue. tbh pretty much any drop in filter will do, some prefer ITG, some K+N, some green, etc etc :)

I got a K&N on the Trophy + removal of acoustic valve, no noticable gains but sounds a litle bit louder than the standard.

Cotton filters are proven to be the least restrictive...but maybe they're not so good at stopping impurities from entering the engine. The K&N is cotton whilst the ITG is foam.

These are a couple of experiments:

There was another one somewhere with graphs, but I can't find it now.

Having said that, I've currently got a K&N and removal of acoustic valve and there's no noticeable power gains. However, on my previous 182 I did notice the engine was a bit livlier with an ITG filter...

I think there's very little in it but seems on this site most prefer ITG, maybe because of the company's racing pedigree??
