An air filter is a consumable item so the way I see it is your just changing it for a better, longer lasting item.

just like you wouldnt declair upgraded wiper blades or headlight bulbs!

yeah theres also that martin. fair point. and in all honesty they dont make a great deal of difference to the cars power anyway. give a tiny bit more mid range pull.

ive found i have more midrange pull and the car works through the gears slightly quicker than with a standard paper filter.. makes the engine sound a bit less of a pussy 2 lol

cheers for the replys, have found that it does pull alittle better in midrange and slightly better sound.

I've got a K&N Induction on mine.
Wifey used to work in insurance and she says anything that gives an increase of 10Bhp+ you have to declare.
But from what she was saying, the Air filter is a part the car it needs.
You dont need to tell them. But if your wanting it replaced in an accident, it would be wise to tell them :D

  172 gone :( 197 now :)
If you declare it which there's no need to you'd be paying the same extra on your policy as for an induction kit so if your going to declare it you might as well buy a IK.
