We run similar stuff (as part of the essentialy pure water coolant) in LMP and similar endurance cars for obvious reasons.................... however worth noting they only need to last 24 hours ;-)

It does work but it isn't the best stuff to have swimming around in the cooling system of a road car.

yeh its just to see if it works, not expecting a permanant fix.

but if its only a little crack, theres gonna be alot of exess in the system.

IIRC you stick the whole lot in, we did at the time anyway. Not 100% sure, it was a while back but we just followed the instructions im sure.
