K-Tec Exhaust Question

yes i had one

problems

Surface rust due to poor quality grade stainless steel
bad fitting, even with constant adjustments
awful exhaust note at anything between 60mph and 90mph

good points

it looked nice
was cheap @ £200 for the full system

overall, would i buy another product from k-tec, based on my experience............... sorry, no i wouldnt

whatever you do, do not buy one, unless you fancy running to bournemouth every few months for a free replacement if i get the vibes from everyone.

I have looked into it a lot and they seem to die regularly...

I had the choice of gettign a k-tec or a Magnex,

both cat bak systems.

Im actually glad i went for the Magnex system, slightly more expensive.

but hasnt had to be adjusted at all over the last 6months+ ive had it on,

spot on sound from it, no problems of rust.

they are a well built bit of kit. highly reccomended from me

well i had 1 on my mk1 clio - didnt fit particually great tho

only bad points for me were - exhaust note above 70 odd is deafening & the fit

good points - beaut note around town and at lower speeds - looked good - lasted well (didnt have any probs with it and it still looks pretty good - forsale)

but yeah id get another 1 based on that one BUT id get ktec to fit it i think so i can blame them if it dont fit right

i got one the only problem i had was the bracket was way to big had to make a new one for it but no problems of rust yet.

i love the sound of it the louder the better. anyway i can drown out the noise with my music if i want :)

I have got most of my stuff from them and they r very quick with delivering anything normally next day which i like coz i hate waiting for thongs to arrive.

Ive got a K-Tec Twin 3" on my 172.

Love it, burbles nicely on tickover. Little noisy at 70, but fine at 80 etc, I guess there is a resonance point at 70 which causes the higher noise.

Guys, we have never had any of our exhaust systems "die" at all. The only ones that seem to need adjusting have been fitted elsewhere. Out of all of the systems we have siold we have had 3-4 calls where the customer had struggled to fit it but each time they have managed to find someone to fit it correctly for them. It really is not that difficult to fit an exhaust. All the systems have a lifetime guarantee and all are made from 304 grade stainless steel which is not a poor grade stainless. We have only seen one system with a tarnished tailpipe and we reomved the back box, repolished the tailpipe and fitted back to the customers car for free as part of our service. We have also had 3 warranty claims in the last 2 years and in each case the faulty part has been replaced free of charge by us with a new section.

Some of our systems are loud but we also now have new silenced centre sections for all our systems meaning we have a quieter alternative available should the customer want it.

Regards.

David.

I got my full system from manifold back about a month ago.

only problem ive had is the centre section catching when i go into my drive cause my car was that low, which kept knocking the clamp out of place so the seal wasnt holding, but have since manage to raise it up with the fitment of a new bracket.

id definatley buy another one and love the sound, dont think the neighbours like it much though lol :devilish:

Bambam, I am very sorry you have had problems with one of our systems. If I had kown you had these problems with surface rust I would have replaced the system for you as this is not a common problem we have had. I hope that at the end of the day it does not put you off buying anything else from us as I do not like the thought of a customer being unhappy with any of our parts.

If there is anything I can help you with in future please let me know and I will see what I can sort out for you in way of compensation for the problems you have had with your system.

I am totally happy with my K-tec system. The fit is excellent, and went on with NO problems whatsoever. I went for the silenced system, which i think is just right in terms of noise.

Furthermore, the Magnex systems look very "bling" and in your face/stuck on. My single 3.5" K-tec was a special build and looks the dogs on my 172 and i would be more than happy to recommend one of these systems to anyone else.

I am the owner of Bambams exhaust and am the customer who got the tarnishing sorted.

It was sorted without fuss (Trevor(?) also re-fitted the exhaust properly) and the option of the new exhaust was given by David if the problem persisted so you cant knock the customer care. Though i guess i must be pretty happy with k-tec as ive spent two grand with them!

It was a bit worrying that i got the tarnishing but then it would be unfair to brand k-tec as a supplier of crap exhausts if they sell hundreds and only a few have buggered up.

Ive had my K-Tec exhaust for well over a year now and not one problem!

Looks & sounds amazing and gave a nice performance increase.

Fitted perfect (so I was told by my mechanic) and have never had a problem with it.....

Had mine for about 5 months. Fitted by K-Tec and hangs spot on with no problems at all. Used to the volume at 70-90 now ;)

K-Tec are one of the few companies Ive dealt with who actually get what customer service means! They dont just take your money are run ... want to make sure that youre happy and will do what is necessary to make that so!

im getting mine fitted by k-tec next friday. i cant wait, ive done alot of homework and i know the k-tecs are class. im getting the quieter centre section. does anyone know how much quieter they actually are?

i might buy some more goodies while im down there also. have they got a showroom or shop?

Ive had my K-TEC stealth, cat back with sports cat fitted for 10 days now. I am more than happy with the product and service.

The exhaust is fitted very well. Sounds well nice. This is with the silencer in the centre section.

Loud, yes (compared to original), but tasteful in my opinion...

I would part again with my money in their shop...

ive got one, fits fine (after i took it off and refitted it myself after the mess the local exhaust place made of it), was hanging too low but that was down to the crappy standard rubber mount not being man enough for the job. sounds good when its hot after an enthusiastic or motorway drive. ive got mine temporarily attached at the mo until i replace the rubber that got knackered last week, but when i was strapping it up quickly the other day i could have sworn there was surface rust forming on some welds, but didnt have time to investigate further - although i will tomorrow as i dont want to insinuate anything about the quality of the systems if it isnt true. looks good when its hanging in the right place though, im happy enough with mine and the price is good too.
