They seem a little bit more expensive, but ov dont mind paying a bit more for better quality and service.

Wouldn't bother with K-tec if the other is closer, or even if K-tec was closer for that matter. They did my engine work, on the whole it has been fine, but when i took it to them regarding a minor start up problem (obviously due to the map) they tried fobbing me off by saying its coz I have a de-cat without the 2nd lamda. Then when i took it for a service, they tried blagging me for a wiper blade when there was nothing wrong with it when i dropped it off, so when they called and told me they had fitted a new one (without asking me I might add) i told them i didnt want it (knowing it was fine). Then next time i go to use the wiper blade I see they had actually ripped off the contact part of the blade, w*****s, so I had to then get a new one anyways.

Rant over

I've had a new clutch and a stealth exhaust fitted by Ktec and I found them to have very good customer service.

I've met James and Tom several times and I'll be visiting them to have their Stage 2 tuning package once its released.

Im guessing thats why there's no price for it. I been waiting for that too! lol. Any idea what kinda price its gunna be?

IIRC they are both preset maps. JMS using the RStuner to map your car not sure what Ktec use.

So really it make NO differance, because your not having a live map so there is fiddleing about or nothing. Basically you turn up, they will plug in a laptop Job done.

Ive never had anything done by JMS, but Ive spoke to Tom from there and he's a real sound guy.
We've chatted a lot about some work we hope to do with each other, and he's very straight and let's you know exactly what the score is, so I can imagine he's the same when working on the Clios. :)

Do a search and I think you will find a lot of happy customers from JMS :)

Met the JMS Tuning lads in person and really nice people who have a passion for what they do and the knowledge to add!

Goto JMS imo.

not saying they havent.. jus would worry me slightly

James has done lots of work on mine and all his work is faultless, absolutely spot on. Unlike other more established garages that i've been to who've done a p*ss poor job tbh.
Nothing to worry about with these guys at all.

I have a close relationship with James and Tom which could make my opinions seem biased BUT, there are few other people i trust to work on my car.

They put it in the effort long after the workshop door is closed because its a hobby as well as a buisness venture for them both.

JMS FTW!

Not convinced about JMS after I read this thread http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=340164&page=22 and the fact they didnt no the difference between brake bias and xenon leveling module :S

Just to clear the confusion - we know that the unit on the rear beam manages the lights, we were questioning whether it has any electronic input into the EBD system that the non cup RS models use, investigations are still ongoing ;)

why not buy an rstuner and do it yourself?

For exactly the reason mentioned by Nick, buying an RStuner you may only use once & then paying for the unlock code comes to a lot more ££age than we offer the standalone remap service for. :)

Again, thanks from both us for everyone's feedback, its great to know that we are on the right track and not to mention humbled to be held up as an option to another company with a huge and well deserved reputation! :)

Just a thought...
If you further mod a car AFTER having a remap (like then fit a mod air filter or exhaust) then will it need remapping again afterwards?
If so having the capability to do it oneself make sense?

How much do you charge for a remap. I got my rstuner for 150quid. I can use it once but i can update the map when new ones come out. I can also put it back to standard for free if I wish. Also once finished with the rstuner i can always sell it.

I'm not being funny or anything I'm sure JMS will do a great job as i have heard nothing but good thing about you guys. Also the fact you deal and have a clio yourself would give me confidence. I was just saying there is a 3rd option

The maps Henk provide are designed to work seamlessly with any mods you may add in the future as it can account for them in its parameters such as decats etc, whereas with the standard map excess bits & bobs can induce flat spots/rough idles just to mention a few.

Thats cool mate. Our standalone remap service is £135.00 all in. Ideal for people who want the map but have no need for the extra facilites the RS Tuner kit provides unlike yourself. We also backup & store everyone's standard maps so for a small charge (IIRC £15) we could put the car back to standard if required. :)

I am confused so please bear with me...

Q1 - I had a K-tec remap a few months ago. If I now, for instance, choose to fit a Viper induction kit, need I have to redo the remap?

Q2 - If continually altering/tuning/upgrading, is it best to go for RS Tuner?

Firstly don't fit a viper they are a complete waste of time & money!!

Too answer your question; no you will not need to redo the map realistically. Fastchip release updates from time to time but the changes are minimal and barely noticeable on the road unless the version you are running is over a year old in which case small gains can be had. Its up to you if its worth the expenditure for a relatively small gain.

We have recently updated my own cars map from Oct 2007 to the newest version (April-May 2009 IIRC) and there was quite a difference in top end pull, Henk also lowered the limiter as it was not worth it being up in the lofty 7k's where all the torque has long gone.
