Anybody ever took part in this series? I may be able to get a sponsor from my company for next years races. Seems a pretty decent championship for an amateur?
HI
We raced in this series last year and some of the comments are quite wide of the mark.
Pads last up to 3 meetings using the K-Tek Carbon Lorraine pads which have the best feel of all, most are using these.
Tyres have changed this season from the Dunlops to Yokahama 048's, these last a lot longer and are more durable and are setting quicker lap times on average about 0.5sec. Friends using these this year are getting 2 meetings easily out of them (4 races and two qualifying) and they come in a just under 100 pound a tyre. They have been restricted to 18 for the whole season and are barcoded, most think they wont use anymore than 12-14, depends on track surface as croft and Rockingham eat tyres up. Last season yes some people were using brand new set almost every race especially on the front.
Disks last a whole season easily
Set up you can only change 3 things, tyre pressures, tracking and camber within the limits of the rules.
Gearbox will last a whole season if you don't miss and few shifts, otherwise take it out yourself and a local gearbox garage charged us 170 pounds.
Body panels well its close racing so expect a few dents and cracks, last season we had two wings and a front bumper all sourced from local breakers or ALS.
Cant race this year as looming divorce beckons so finances have been rained in otherwise we would still be out there.
Car is almost ready for sale and is fully compliant for this years regs apart from the tyres. Just about to put a newer lower mileage engine in it as the other let go on a recent track day.
