K-tec stealth exhaust system - Removing center section.

My center section seems to hang down quite low so I'm thinking of removing it. Having a look at it, it looks like I can replace the section with some 2.5" stainless tube we have at work. Obviously I'd have to flair it at the ends and split it but it looks like no cutting will be needed.

Has anybody gone from full stealth system to one the above? Car is ph1 with twin cat still in place.
