K24 Storm Grey 200 Track Car

At the start of 2023, I decided something had to give. Two cars, a Megane R26, and a 172 Cup, was no longer a viable option - the R26 was too nice to drive and its value was all tied up in the cars low mileage, and I had taken the boosted Cup as far as I could really be bothered. Sold both within two weeks.

Suddenly I was without a RenaultSport for the first time in a decade... for all of a week. I then picked this up. A Storm Grey Clio 200 Cup. 111K, belts due, and suspension issues that will be addressed very soon.

I was worried I'd regret selling the others, but this really feels like the two of them molded into one. I am hoping to turn this into X Cup Racer-inspired car with a bit of a twist. A good friend of mine has a stunning K24/K20 Frankenstein DC5 and the long-term plan is to do the same to the 200.

This year will be all about making smaller improvements, getting some track time in, and sorting out the suspension. The Honda engine will come later. If you made it this far, cheers for reading.

Not done very well with this project thread so far. I’ve done a fair bit, and documented none of it on here.

The interior has been stripped. I’ve left the front dash and door cards in for now. Removing the sound deadening has been tedious.

Cage is an SW Motorsports Half Cage that I picked up second hand, along with some smart track door cards for the rears.

Took the time to take the rear arch liners out and give it a good clean. Turns out all the shock absorbers are shot as well as a cracked spring, so I’ve got some yellow speed Coilovers to go on.

Have heard good things about these. I know a few people with the 200’s run them and they are ideal for the later cars that have the triangle shaped top mount. These are the trackday rated springs.

Will be fitting these in the next week or so. Also picked up some new seats, along with 4 point harnesses and pure track side mounts. All in all, looking good.
