K800i

  cock mobile.
Anyone got one?

Any good etc?

Currently got a N70, but so need to upgrade now because it's doing me 'ead in!

Was tempted by the N73 but with the problems I've had with the N70 I've been put off.

Will be on the Orange network.

  A blue one.
I had a n80 on orange, loved it. (the phone, not orange - who are utter w**k)

I've got a k800i on vodafone (vodafone family is absolutely brilliant!) now and it's brilliant. Prefer it to the n80.

I'll defo be sticking with Orange, have been with them 7 years now.

They aren't the network they use to be, but better the devil you know and all that.

Looks like the K800i gets a thumbs up then!

The D900 and W850i also look like half decent phones, I really like the slimness of the D900 so that's tempting as well.

Cheers.

Have Voda not decimated the OS using their bullsh1t firmware that they seem to enjoy using to ruin phones. Every Voda I have come across has shortcut keys reprogrammed for Voda Live!, the menu icons changed into some horrible Voda ones, a red scheme, and Live! branding all over them.

Is this not the case?

I had one and it was a great phone but I sold it last week and bought a N73 instead.

Nah, it does use Vodafone firmware.. but I've compared it to an O2 (and that's unbranded) and the changes are worthwhile I think.
I have different buttons on my Voda k800i which makes it better.

There isn't anything really which makes Vodafone live annoy you.. it's just the normal web options in the menu which is fine.

How would you compare it to the N73?

The N70 has been such a pain in the arse, it still randomly rings with the default ring tone now and then even though I've clearly set a different tone grr!

I prefer texting on the N73, the keypad has a more instant feel to it and is easier to use (especially the '7' key).

The k800i has a slightly faster OS but the N73 is not a great deal slower. I use TomTom on my phone which is a big reason I returned to a Nokia. I've also noticed that the battery is lasting far better on my N73. The k800i battery required to be charged most nights, my brother's k800i often does not last a day.

The Nokia and SE are both great phones but if I had to choose one or the other it'd be the N73 as for me it is the slightly better phone.

What specifically did you not like about the N70 and maybe I can tell you if the N73 suffers from the same problems?

So far the ringtone has remained on the custom track I selected.

Lack of responsiveness, but I find most phones are like that these days :S

It's too big really, I want something a bit more pocket friendly.

Camera is useless at night or for motion pics, but I might be just being a bit anal about that, it's a phone after all.

On the most part I like the N70, but the Symbian OS has problems, if they were fixed in the N73 it might be worth keeping it, can you 'debrand' them, as it may be all the Orange firmware crap that makes it problematic.

i had a 6680 i think and recently changed to a k800i. love the phone but its awkward to txt on using one hand! just the way the phones shped and where all the keys are that makes it fiddly. also tend to hit the wrong keys a few times but getting used to it now

its definately faster through the menus and stuff than my nokia though.

camera on it is awesome

overall im liking it! id highly recommend a martin fields screen protector though.. definately a worthwhile investment!

The N73 can be easily debranded, Orange usually ruin most phones with the terrible customisations they do to the firmware.

I've installed the firmware from the new N73 Music Edition phone onto my N73 today without any problems.

The K800i and N73 are pretty much the same size although the Nokia does feel better to hold because the SE camera shutter cover sticks out the back of the phone.

A screen protector is definately a good purchase as the k800i screen is easily scratched.

There is one out, but SE haven't officially released it yet. There are a couple of websites where you can buy the update and flash it but i'd rather not f**k it up as it could void warrenty if it goes wrong. Sites are wontan server and davinci team (I think).

as it happens.. a protector for the screen. protect against scratches.

the k800i screen is easy to scratch apparantly. i fitted martin fields protector from new. the screen is still VERY clear and very sharp. cant even notice its on there!

and its re usable and washable too.

so in a years time my phones screen should still look brand new if i remove the protector.
