Kerbal Space Program [PC/MAC]

As per request, a thread for this insanely addictive (and nerdy) game.

My current achievements are:

1 Satellite in a super spaffy orbit around earth.
Several space craft orbiting the sun, for eternity.
1 Aborted launch which means I have a lander parked near the launchpad.

Looking on youtube, some people put some serious time into this game. Jesus H Christ.

Was debating about getting this but I thought I better not as I'll spend way too much time on it.
I just watch youtube videos by Scott mansell iirc who does some really great builds

I love this game. I remember the first time I made it to the mun and back, such a good feeling of accomplishment!

I started out with my first rockets exploding on the pad, then just getting into orbit was an achievement and I had no fuel left. Then I made it to the mun and just orbited and went home and then finally I made a rocket with a lander that had enough fuel to get there and back.

I don't use any mods though so that kind of restricts or makes difficult a lot of things. So I kind of stopped playing after I did the mun landing and landing on that other moon (minmus or something?).

So now I just watch the stuff that Scott Manley does.

Lol, thought it was a typo until I downloaded a demo.

I just keep exploding on the launch pad

It's not too bad at all considering how much it does! Graphics are pretty basic, but the calculations etc. it runs are insane. Trajectory paths, orbits and stuff.

I love how many craft I have floating around in deep space. I now have an orbiting craft, an orbiting station and a satellite all around Kerbin. I made it to the Mun with plenty of fuel left, but hit it full pelt. FFS! Oh and in one launch, I hit the wreckage of an old launch thats orbiting Kerbin.

I gave Orbiter a shot but couldn't even launch the shuttle lol Do you have to use a gamepad/joystick?

FFS I paid £17.99 for this a day before it goes down to £10. My life.

I have a space station type thing orbiting the moon now. And I've crashed into the moon a couple of times.

I love it, got a few things in orbit and have been venturing off into the Mun.

Got my first proper base setup there, it was meant to be modular - had a go at landing the next stage of my base, when I realised the docking ports were the wrong way around (one was rotated), I got that pissed off I haven't played it since!

I do plan to play again

HHAHAHA awesome! How do you get the Kerbals jet packs to work? I have RCS fuel attached to the little command module but when I venture out, nothing happens

I downloaded it last night, played it a long time ago when it was still free.

Just about figured out how to get them into orbit, that's about it so far!

I've been playing the demo, there is a lot less to do. I've still managed to get to the mun though. I would have landed too if I wasn't so busy trying to get a screen shot that I crashed into a mountain.

I'm 50/50 on buying the full version as I don't think I'll get the time to play it lol.

Tried the demo and I can see the appeal. I don't think I'll pay £18 for it - but I'll add it to my wishlist and see if it comes up in a future sale.

I managed to get to Eve in the career mode with the tech tree about half done, but I quicksaved just before landing - took about 20 attempts but finally landed, literally 0 fuel now though lol.

I ragequit after getting to Eve, managed to get a second ship there, and when landing realised I had the docking ports rotated differently!!!

Saw this thread yesterday, and now i cant stop playing. i havent actually worked out how to orbit or anything yet, just trying to get as quick as i can into space with like a million rockets

Learning to Orbit correctly takes ages (but do it correctly, it pays off in the long run), but it's awesome fun doing it

I need to pick this back up, but I'm still sore about my previous save lol. Need to see if there's an update as I fancy starting a new career and tech tree!

Orbit is simple... load the prebuilt rockets too to get the hang of it.

Toggle to "m" to see the "map" of where you are... AP is the point furthest from the planet - PE is closest. Warp to AP and aim the rocket at the Yellow little icon on the globe (One without the X in it) and that'll speed up the orbit and basically put you into "orbit" once the blue trail circumnavigates the planet.

It's an ace game just to build completely crazy crap lol

Downloaded a mod called mechjeb or something like that that is autopilot. Managed to watch that for tips on getting into orbit, even set it to land on mun which it did pretty well.
