Kick back on gear stick!!!

I am having some kick back off my gear stick when my car is in gear. Is this a huge problem, it never kicks itself out of gear it just jerks a lot and you can feel it if your holding the gearstick whilst driving like I do.

how do bab, same thing appens with mine... i've been told theres no major problem - but it just doesnt feel right does it!!!!

The 1.2 engine does move loads. even from new. crap i know. iirc the 172 dog bone mount is the same size and dimension, but stiffer, so will stop this.

Also, you shouldnt hold the gearstick whilst driving, fubars the gearbox.

yes they move slightly it will be fine. ( All models do )

Every 1.2 - 1.4 ive been in has had this. They tend to "flop" about quite a bit. Crap design really.

Well Im just glad it isnt a problem...

I ended up getting my car back in the end, I wasnt allowed to reject it so had to keep it.......im loving her still though.

common problem, it's the mount that attaches to the upper bit of the subframe. You need a Renault 19 1.4 'night and day' model gearbox mount. Pack it in sealant to strengthen it up and throw it on and you wont get any movement then... providing the rest of the mounts are okay. Beware the one under the battery tray as this has a habit of snapping and droping the box onto your drive shaft...
