I was gifted a two-night break from work to use anywhere in the UK, so inspired by @Rob 's yearly Lakes topics, I decided to go there.
Stayed in Ambleside (you have to try The Apple Pie cafe), but visited Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere (went to The World of Beatrix Potter), Ullswater, Keswick and Backbarrow (visited the Lakeland Motor Museum). Managed to do a lot, but having a 12month old means being up early enough to make the most of every day.
I won't bore you with the family/touristy photos, but there was one road I had to do, the Kirkstone Pass. I was in the car at 8am, it was empty, and within 2 minutes was here:
