Knock Sensor left disconnected.

I was checking today to see if my standard oil pressure switch was leaking at all (and its fine) as i refitted in back to it original location on the engine block yesterday as my oil gauges are disconnected the now as my oil pressure sender has started leaking oil where it screws into the t piece i made up

And i just noticed i forgot to Connect back up my Knock Sensor.

Would running without this have caused any damage or problems ?

Its connected up again now.

I dont know the ins and outs of the standard ECU but a lot of cars will revert to a slightly more careful map (same as if knock is detected) if a knock sensor fault is seen. Most likely you will need to clear the fault code and reset the ECU and all will be fine

There was no faults codes registered bud, i checked it on the mileage display by holding in the computer button on the end of the wiper stalk and turning the ignition on.

I got 4 dashes displayed like so ----

So if i remember correctly that means no fault codes stored :S

All i did was forgot to connect it back up when i detached it for removing my oil gauge pipework.

Knock sensor needs to be connected and working.
Otherwise it runs in 'degraded' mode. Not recommended.

It is connected and working fine

If it were detecting "knock" it would kick into limp mode. Much like if it is disconnected.

In limp mode it will run with less power, and less worse fuel economy to prevent any further damage.

Limp mode never happened, which is a good thing.

Thats only a tiny part of fault finding..get it on a proper fault reader.
