Knocking at low speed when pulling away and slowing down

Hi 182 has recently developed a worsening knocking and creaking noise from somewhere near the cars front end.
Now i know theres a large quantity of similar threads; i have searched but cant find any related threads.
The knocking cannot be heard in any gear but 1st, and only at low revs, especially when pulling away.
Had an mot and service and had a advisory of slight play with the ball joint. Would this be the cause of this noise which is making me go mad!

Anybody? It might not just be first gear but any gear i pull away in. Not tested it though

if there is play in the balljoint, put new ones in and try if its gone...

Im going to book it in after pay day but just wanted to see if these symptoms sound like those of a naughty ball joint?

as above mate replace the balljoints and go from there could we your exhaust or bush on the dogbone mount

Just had/have the same on mine atm mate. Mine turned out to be the ball joint knocking in the hub. The pinch bolt had let go and worn the hub.

Replace the ball joint first if its still knocking its new hub time.

Ive got this too and oddly was about to make a thread about it, It only happens when im in 1st too, like a constant knocking noise when pulling away and turning.

How much is the cost of a new ball joint?
