Knocking noise from the rear of the car.

Hi guys wondering if you can help. Just picked up my 172 Cup today and love it however when I really go for it, I get a knocking noise from the rear of the car, or a loud bang as soon as I get 6,000 Rpm +. I've been looking and I think it's worn engine mounts. Anyone got any other ideas? Or had this problem also. I think it's quite common....

Rear exhaust mount? Look under car, they have like a rubber "star" inside a square mount, the rubber perishes/fails and the bracket on the rear box rattles around inside the square.
People cable tie nuts and other things inside them to help prevent it/make them last

It's funny you should say that mate, I took it up the garage today due to the exhaust knocking and it was exactly that problem, they put a pin on the end as it kept coming out of the square mount, as well as a cable to stop it from dropping.

Haha no no I didn't, would be a bit reluctant to part with my money for that!

Good good mate at least its sorted for now, have a look uprating the mount.

i think its prima racing who do an uprated mount thats recommended on this site for around £12

will last alot longer than the renault replacement

Cheers for the advice mate, I'm going to keep it as it is until we year when I get the funds to get it all sorted, literally to money right now!

I'm guessing its not good for the exhaust knocking noise to keep on occurring? Or happening? Don't want to cause damage. If so I'll just be a little bit more reserved with the right pedal

The knocking chance to be coming from the rear axle hitting the bend in the exhaust towards the backbox, if you can modify the existing mount so its got enough clearence then you should be fine for a while mate, look at those prima racing mounts though!!

Im planning on trying to sort this out soon. I want to get uprated engine mounts and at the moment the only way i can think is the complete kit from KTEC. i don't know if thats over kill though. I've checked out prima racing, and I'm looking at powerflex at the moment but for the life of me i can't pick out what i need. Im complete clueless. In the future I plan on some mods so want to get this engine strapped in!

also check which back box is on it as I have a cup and when a tried replacing the exhaust from a garage it was the wrong ones coming under my reg plate and I had to go to Renault for mine. mine was hitting off the rear axle aswell. I also have a cup
