Knocking sound upto about 15/20 mph

I get a sort of knocking sound when driving at any speed upto about 15/20mphish. Doesn't matter if it's in gear or not, nor going round a corner etc. Sound gets faster the faster i go but once i go past 20 the sounds goes away.

I think its coming from the back but not entirely sure. Any thoughts as to what it could be.

could be ur cat mate. if u can get under the car, give ur cat a bit of a hit, if it rattles, u need a new one! will be about £250 - £300 probably!!

Could be engine mount - mine went after 6months. Wasn't a constant sound either, went quiet at speed etc. If the Rev Limiter, if the car really makes a noise, could be it

Hmm the engine is sounding a bit rough as well so could well be the CAT... bugger!

you can get cats for alot cheaper then £300, iv seen them for 172s below 150

Right get it on ramps. Check rear exhaust mount. Replace if needed. Take engine under tray off. Check subframe engine mount. Replace if needed. Check dog bone mount. Replace if needed. Lower ramps. Check both top engine mounts. Replace if needed.

could be something stupid like wheel arch liner , had a similar noise went back to dealer and they re fitted it ! no noise
