KTEC coilovers?

  PH2 172
KTEC coilovers for 172 cup. what you all think on them, going to be used for mainly fast road and the odd take it round track at shows like trax etc so nothing serious.

Yes I do mate.

Like I said though theyre OK. Car handles well with them on, and are good value for money.

If I could do a rewind though I can't help but feel I should have saved my money and bought something with reputation such as KW/H&R - but theyre expensive as hell.

Basically you get what you pay for. £300 coilovers aren't going to be the muts nuts.

I'd say they are a tad better than standard handling wise, and the car looks better on them. I get the impression they won't last very long though.

So you asked a company about their own brand product, and they recommended them. If you want them for looks, go for it. For handling, I'd wager a standard car with ARB would be more fun.

Nice for an owner not to fall down the normal route of "They're bestest because I boughted them!".

I've got a whiteline ARB with my KTEC suspension. I think that drastically makes up for them tbh

I just dont really wanna spend over £500 so if theres somethign better for say £500 then id go for that know anythign for that price. Like said aint tracking it all time just fast road and odd track day here and there.

I'm amazed the ARB hasn't been the single best selling suspension mod for these cars. Brilliant bit of kit.

I was like that 6 or 7 months ago, purely because I'd not been out in a car with a proper set up. It's nice to have something to gauge the set up you have on.

Don't get me wrong, they aren't "s**t" per say, but they aren't the best by any means.

RE the ARB, completely agree. Whiteline have missed a trick with them, i'm suprised they aren't more widely available.

Honest opinion, I'd wait for a 2nd hand set of KW's/Bilstein's/H&R's to come up.

Yup.

Worth £500 all day long, will sell on better too. I'm going down this route when I've got them money. I'm hoping to modify some KW v2's to fit my 182

You've tried Grays? Brilliant stuff, such a shame they don't produce them for the mk3's.

GAZ are reputed to be uber shite. Not sure on the FK's.

I agree with boosh on everything he has said.

I wish i had waited and got something different.

Handling wise, i think they are pretty much identical to cup suspension, but obviously lower with slightly less roll. No significant improvement over stock anyway, but you get what you pay for!

Haven't driven the car hard enuogh personally to make a call on them from behind the drivers seat, but I was massively impressed from the passenger seat :approve:

I really want a set!

Get them mate and make your own mind up. There good for the money but by no means an upgrade so to speak!

Get them, run on them for a while and see what you think, then sell them on again when you can afford a better set. Someone will buy them rather than pay full price and if they're not too old or knackered when it comes to selling them you'll probably get a large chunk of the money back anyway.

  PH2 172
Yeah that is true i may like them i may not if i dont them i can always sell them my mate and get soemthing betetr once i have more saved up. what sort of price are you lookign at for getting them setup.
