KTR Panel Filter

Just received my panel filter from K-tec (along with a few other bits)

Ordered it to replace the standard one, as im starting to collect bits ready to do a service on the 172.

On the website it says better fuel economy, but is this the case? I want to know before I fit it as I dont want something that is going to kill me on fuel :S

(should hae really asked this before I ordered, but needed to get some exhaust mounts asap, so placed my order yesterday).

quite honestly in my personal experience (which really is just personal use) fitting a panel filter makes no odds, the difference to standard (in terms of fuel economy) is neglible. perhaps a wee bit more low down pull on take off but even in terms of performance, no "real" noticeable difference in the cold light of day.

It won't make the slightest bit of difference.
I found it used a bit more fuel when the acoustic valve was removed as well though.

Thats ok then... When I saw "Performance Filter" on the packaging, I thought it may rape me on petrol, even though it says otherwise on the website.

Not a bit of difference, just make sure you clean it every service, i had not cleaned my ITG for 2 services and it was manky. Cleaning it and putting it back in made a little difference but thats because the filter was HORRID.

Fitted it along with some new exhaust mounts/rubbers!!

Exhaust is sitting just about right now!

Lets hope that the filter is ok

We dyno tested our Megane a couple of weeks ago and gained 3bhp by fitting one of our panel filters. This was done over several runs and when replacing the OE filter the power returned to its pre panel filter figure.
