Lambda help required please...

Hi guys, failed MOT this morning on high emmisions...

Think I need a new Lambda, although I have a few quick questions I could do with clearing up.

I know there is a "pre" and "post" cat Lambda and that these are the same (apart from the legnth of the wire)

Now do I change them both, or just one of them?

If I do just change one, I assume it would be the "pre" cat sensor, and that this would be the one I needed?

Any help would be great guys, as I dont want to get bent over (again) by Renault dealerships..

Thanks in advance :)

Matt.

change the pre cat sensor this is the one that affects fueling

post cat just controls the emissions light to tell you if the cat is doing its job

personally i put some cat cleaner through before any mot with my clios otherwise they always seem to fail :/

also id get one from a motor factors, euro car parts are a nightmare for supplying incorrect parts even though it says they are for your model

plus it will be cheaper from a MF

Cheers mate, only thing is my MPG figures are fine, ie 40+ on the Mway etc...

I do get the emmisions light flashing me sometimes sat in trafic a while, so could that point to the "post" cat sensor then?

Thats why I'm leaning towards replacing them both to save the hasstle etc..

Might as well get it from ECP at least you can change it easily if the wrong part, I never a problem at my local ECP shop.

changed my front lambda sensor & it passed....apparently he should have changed the front 1 before changing the rear 1...but good thing is hes only gonna charge me £50 for the front 1 including fitting
