Laptop Buggered

Last nite my laptop seemingly packed in. I turned it on, opened up the net and then it cut off. I turned it back on and got a blue screen saying that windows had closed down to protect itself. I tried restarting etc but to no ovail.The same screen appeared. Any suggestions on how I could fix this?

if it had happend to me, id put my xp disc in, then when starting up, select 'boot from disc'. im sure there is then a 'repair' option.
