Laptop dead?

Hi, few nights ago, the laptop died on me, screen went funny colours then went blank. I turned it on tonight, it started to load up, screen went fuzzy then it stopped loading and went blank.

Ideas, i have zero knowledge with computers.

Does it reply to a simple "hello?" - if not, it's probably fucked.
