Laptop problems!!

  182 FF Inferno
Calling out to the PC geeks!

On turning on my other laptop (belongs to the rents), regularly comes up with the following:

Blue screen

Internal power error
Stop0x000000A0 (0x0000001,0x00000006,0x86A78E80,0x0000000)

Any ideas on a fix before I take it to an expert??
(I know the best fix is to get rid of Vista but thats not really possible)

Looks like a hardware error. When exactly is it doing it?

If you can pinpoint when this could narrow it down a lot.

Happens when the laptop is turned on, but not every time. Googled it and the most common/ popular answer is down to putting it into hibernate rather then shutting down being the cause. Tried both and its not this.

I think its a driver error personally but I don't know a fix!

Hibernate is not a good feature imo.

Ok ok...hmm. So it's just absolutely random?

Usually every other time. Why do you say hibernate is bad?? Usually leave mine on hibernate.

Reason I suspect its a driver is that we recently tried to update my Dads old Garmin sat nav. Had to download drivers for that.

It causes quite a few problems. Sometimes it won't boot back up again properly, causes errors like the one you're experiencing etc...

Uninstall it then, or system restore to before you installed it, see if that fixes it.

Excellent! Looks like problem solved then. Must just have been a bad/conflicting driver. Also remove the option to put your laptop to hibernate after so many minutes.

Hibernate is great on Windows 7 - I do it every day on my latitude 6500 and never once had an issue.
