Laptop spillage

  Nissan Jewk
A glass of water was split on the laptop, everything is fine after we dried it all off overnight, except for one thing... the "m" button doesn't work.

And yes, for all your smart arses, I had to copy and paste the letter m to make my point lol :rasp:

Have taken the key off but can't see anything obvious... the laptop was on at the time, so could it have shorted out or something? An easy fix?

hmmmmmm, depending on how much water actually got spilt on it, i recon more things will suddenly stop working! Over the next days, weeks or maybe months.

however, u could always try re-mapping the keyboard, so u get an 'm' back?

Many PC users are unaware that computer keyboard layouts and key assignments are not fixed in stone but can be changed. The hard core tweaker can make the changes by editing the scan codes in the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layoutbut most will prefer an easier and less dangerous way. Ever since the Windows 95 Kernel Toys, Microsoft has provided some sort of utility that allowed remapping or changing the functions of keys. Also, there are several free utilities for this task.
