Laptop to Laptop

If i connected two laptops with a cat 5 cable can i access all the data from one on the other?

Is there programs i need to download in order to do this or is it built in vista?

Sy

Ps its an XP laptop and a vista laptop.

The cable would have to be a cross over cable and then it will be fine, might find it easier to assign a manual IP address though.

Those links are for ICS and at least the first one uses a hub which isn't going to be used by you SyCD.

For the properties of the Internet Protocol you need to for example have one as 192.168.0.1 and the other computer as 192.168.0.2. They both should be on the same workgroup also, the default is something like MSHOME or WORKGROUP.
