laptop upgrade question...

  none, just walk
ive got a dell 6000 inspiron laptop and im wondering if i can get parts to upgrade it to play new games coming out for the pc?

it is about 2 years old and i can play somegames on it, the best way to judge the power is that it can just about handle c&c generals but if i little slow but it is playable.

Games like halo and the like wouldnt work i dont think cos i dont have a 3d graphics card.

Im a total newbie to all this pc upgrade stuff so i wouldnt have a clue where to start,

any advice please?

Bigger disk.

More RAM.

Possibly a faster processor, but not a lot faster.

No, laptops are relatively hard to upgrade.

would more ram mean i can play the likes of the new command and conquer that is out?

im only into rts games so thats all im after a upgrade for

no im afraid your laptop situation is something of a dead end. Laptops are USELESS at playing games. Im not saying laptops are crap because they are good at doing what they are designed to do - which isnt playing games.

The only thing you can do is put more ram in but that wont help really with playing games - they may load quicker but wont necessarily play any quicker. What you need is a beefy graphics card which isnt somehting you can buy to put in a laptop.

Sorry my friend, you are a litte stuffed. Oh, and you cant play C&C without a graphics card so your laptop has some sort of graphics card in there, even if its just a built in type of system.

The new command& conquer uses the same engine as generals I believe so I would imagine it should run on your laptop. I have a cheapo entry level one and I completed it using my laptop, I just had everything set to minimum.
