Le Mans

  182 Cup
What a fantastic weekend, probably my best yet! The weather was fantastic, and the whole atmosphere was really something to be happy about this year.

Friday on mulsanne was busier than ive ever seen it, lots of exotica. Also in arnage on the friday night, again very busy and a great atmosphere going into the night.

On the day of the race we visited the auberge (sp) on mulsanne, which I would recommend. The very nice owners let us go into an upstairs bedroom to watch the race for a few minutes and get a few sneaky pictures, we also had a 3 course meal there and the steak was lovely. We then also walked through a couple of fields and managed to get a great view up the mulsanne straight.

Sunday was probably the hottest day we were there, and sitting on the start/finish straight for about 2 hours before the end was painful but worth it!

For anyone that missed the race, Peugeot took the victory and about time. For me though the real success was for aston, who although didnt win the race took a respectable 3rd, ahead of 6 diesel cars. A great result for their first year in LMP1, and what other manufactures can say they did so well with an engine out of their road car?? Anyway here are some pics, I also got some video which I will upload soon :)

looks like you had a great time!

i managed to watch around 14 hours worth on eurosport, the only bits i really missed were when i couldnt stay awake any longer, oh and the start! i got confused with the time difference!

how did you plan your trip if you don't mind me asking? hoping to go next year for the first time so any info would be great.

Great shots man, I spent the week at Mulsanne. Was awsome, already planning next year!!

What camera have you got because I couldn't get off any decent shots at all really. The road from Mulsanne corner to Arnage was really busy on Sun night, lots of very expensive motors blasting up and down for about 3 hours!

First thing is how many of you and how many cars and what budget. Cheapest crossing is normally Dover to Dunkerque, a bit more driving but money saved outweighs extra fuel costs. Campsites vary in price and the best are normally booked up as soon as a few months from now! We went Weds to Mon so we could watch free practice and make a week of it more or less.

beermountain.com has every bit of information about going to Le Mans you could think of! If you can find it then log on to the forum and someone will know the answer to your question.

i think we want to go camping, there would be one car an two people going. not really bothered how much it costs in fuel or crossings but i presume ferry is cheapest?

thinking of wed-mon too. that way get to see everything. are all the campsites/tickets on that beermountain.com?

Cheers guys. I didnt see that particular group Jon :( Tetre rouge is probably the best camp site, there is a particular website that buys pretty much the whole sites tickets though so you have to go through them and cant remember what site it is exactly. Weve been in beausajour twice and dairon this year. The camping is always hit and miss depending on whether you get a good spot or like us this year, you set up your tent and then a group of middle aged dutch during their midlife crisis turn up with a 100000 watt sound system and park next to you. Believe me, sleeping that night was torture. Pretty much everyone around them moved the next morning including us.

Some of my mates had darion tickets so they stayed there for a night then we came and picked their tents up and moved them to Bousejour.
You got some good pics there wish i had a better lens for my camera but i still got a few goodens.
I can't wait to get next year booked up now its such a good week.

You've got some good pictures there, did you have a press pass!? as we couldnt get any shots half as good as yours! They seem to be taken pretty close to the track.
I was staying at Karting Nord and may try Tetre Rouge next year.

I didnt have a press pass, god id like one though. Most of the above shots were taken standing on a fold out chair, the ones from arnage are peering over the fence outside the spectator area, a couple are on mulsanne where we trekked through a couple of fields and climbed over a barbed wire fence.

I completely missed it.

Always shocks me how such an event goes totaly under the radar.

Pics look great!!

Awsome! We trecked through some fields and managed to get to the Porche curves about 10ft from the track, was so loud! we were there 10 mins before some marshalls came out of nowhere and escorted us back :(

Never thought of walking to the Mulsane straight but wish we had now. You going next year?
