Leaking Boot - 172 mk2

  Citroen DS3 DSport
I've noticed on a couple of occasions that I have a pool of water in my boot after either washing the car or during heavy rain. The picture below illustrates where I believe the water is dripping down from. Any idea where I should be looking in order to fix this?

I lifted the carpet and the foam underside is soaked.

I did give the seal a quick once over this morning but I couldn't see any obvious area of concern.

Check these 2 grommets , 1 on each side , remove , silicone sealant in the hole , replace the grommets and try to leave the tailgate open as long as possible until the sealant has cured .

The water usually finds its way into the spare wheel well and sometimes under the back seat .

I checked the seal, removed it and replaced it but I could not see any obvious point of entry for the water but from where I found it dripping it must be entering above those grommets. Are the rear lights a possible area of concern?

I checked under the rear seat and there was indeed a pool of water which has now been dried, that'll explain the damp smell over the weekend.

Had a similar problem on my Clio but on the other side, Renault Macclesfield sealed all the grommets up but this didn’t fix it. They then refitted the side window and that didn’t fix it. I had to take it to Renault Stockport as they were supposed to be body specialists, some guy called “Jim the Trim” does there work who fixed it but gave it back in a mess. There was old silicone that was pealed off all over the boot and they couldn’t even put the spare in properly, the tools had been put in first. There looks to be a small crease in the roof rail so maybe that’s where the leak was. If you look closely after drenching the car with a hose pipe you was able to see the water coming down the rear quarter panel from somewhere high up. Hope you get it sorted.
