Leaking gearbox

Djw John

Hi, Ive got a leak from my gearbox and traced it to the inner cv on the nearside. Can see that is where th eoil is coming out but cant see why or where exactly. The cv isnt that old so should i just pull it out and push it back in or what?! Im guessing there is a better way! The other problem is the plastic wingnut for the hole to fill up with oil is stuck solid so how could i get this off. I cant get a tool on it other than a pair of plier that will chew it to bits

Its a 2000 Mk2 ph1 1.4 8v E7J engine btw

Cheers for any advice
John

Have you tried removing the oil filler cap when the engine is hot, I had the same problem with removing (or trying to as the case be) my rad cover. once the engine got hot it came of easy.
If not maybe put a cloth round of then a pair of adjustable grips.
