Leaky Sunroof!!

Hello there!!!

Got a bit of a problem with a leaky sunroof, the Mrs Car has a manual sunroof, water leaks in from it and fills up the little central locking reciever. any ideas how to stop this? and yes i have mage sure that it is shut firmly and the drains arent blocked!! Cheers!

checked the roof arial is sealed properley.if thats ok then the sunroof frame wants removing and the glass+roof seals replacing.

i got mine done by a sunroof specialist a few weeks ago, exact same problem as yours, i only required the outer seal (frame to roof) and the part is around £75 from renault but for the price he came to my place of work (Bristol from Tiverton) and fitted a new seal and additional sealing where the frames lose thier shape. If i had bought the seal from renault its might not have fixed it with that alone plus there is the risk of me fecking it up. He said the Glass to frame seal was OK, or i think its around £115 for both - again truely unbeatable and with a 12mth gaurnte

You really cant go worng with this chap, its possible he may come along to Swindon at marginal additional cost. Mine been in loads of heavy rain since and its 100% perfect

Mention Cliosport as a few of us have had ours fixed by him now

hope this helps drop me a Pm if you need anything else

By the way there are NO drains in the clio sunroof! discoveries and Saxos use the same sunroof but INCLUDE drains!! Well dome renault!!

the aftermarket seals are a lot fatter so would seal any imperfections,a bit exspensive though.some of the frames have drains at the front but not at the rear.some frames have no drains at all.

Get a silicone gun out and seal the sunroof completely (from the outside) like I did. If that doesnt stop it, take central locking receiver apart and you should see the aerial mount. Seal that with silocone too.

Seal it all off, sunroofs, ha! Who needs them?!

I think Ill be telling him to have a go with the silicone gel, hes only got a cheap 1.9 RT as a run around so dont really want to spend money on it. Cheers!!!!!

Hi

from what you have said i would put bets on it being the ariel, sometimes this can get knocked in a car wash and break the seal as they only have a peice of rubber around it,

best thing to do is take your interia light unit out and you will see the screw, undo the areil and put a small amount of sealer around the hole,(bathroom sealer will be fine)

do it all back up and wait for it to rain, if it still leaks you know for sure its the sunroof, but atleast it hasnt cost you anything,

hope this helps

Dave

i think theyre are 2 drain holes that run down the sides of the windscreen. they can get blocked.not too sure on that though.

there is no drains on the late electric tilt and slides.

I can only assume they designed it on a Friday afternoon
