learner premium

  Clio Mk2 1.2 Dynamique
My son insured his Clio 1.2 Dynamique just so that he could get use to it as well as taking driving lessons via a school. He paid £908 TPFT. Yesterday he passed his test, and informed the insurance company of the good news. Good news all round they said we want another £568 thanks very much.

Well i paid the extra it was worth it to see his grin when he finally drove it on his own.

  Iceburg 172FF
what company is that with? might be worth doing a pass plus test aswell as that was equivalent to 1 years ncb for me when i first passed and took my premium down alot.

  1 Series Coupe
The price of my insurance was the same with Tesco when i passed, well over a year ago now.

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
its because once you qualify your on your own and not supervised and more likely to make a poor decision. but quinn seemed really awkward to get a quote and the questions wer ein no apprent order.

i hope you declared the aftermarket alloys. they could void your whole pollicy.

pass pluss is a course of 2 regular lessions ( one at night, on them otorway and inthe rain etc) about £120, but is generally taken by those who accept it as a years NCB so about £700 difference in my bros case.

  306 GTI-6
Thats strange then, if i get a quote from them with aftermarket alloys and lowered suspension, there is more than £300 difference. Not saying your not telling the truth, but might pay to double check mate.

The alloys were declared at the outset. So there would be no apparent change in premium. However if you do a search on "Quinns" the general opinion, is as I have stated above, that they are tolerant of mods provided there is no power increase. Ive e-mailed Quinns to confirm this but not yet recieved any reply. If they do reply I will post it. They do seems inconsistent though when you weigh up that they charge a guy £6/month=£72 (possibly less depending on how long the policy as left to run, as opposed to £568 for the same thing?

  Clio Mk2 1.2 Dynamique
Ive just been in touch with Quinns, the increase in premium all be it 62.5% is correct. So future learner/insurance seekers beware. Regarding the other matter, they need to be informed of any modifications to the car.
