Visited GDI today to get my leda coilovers fitted.
Thanks to Andy, Ben and team for fitting them. They have a really good setup there with good fascilities and a nice location.
Got a chance to go back to back in my car, standard engine with ledas, and the GDI demo car, 209bhp and bilsteins. I was only a passenger but to be honest would not have gone as fast as Andy did!
My impressions from the passenger seat were how similar the two cars felt. The ledas were on there softest setting and did feel to have a bit more give and roll then the bilsteins but the bilsteins definately were not harsh. This is not very scientific and what do I know anyway! It was surprising how composed both cars felt Andy was entering corners at speeds that were making me flinch but the car, demo car, sailed round them easily seemingly having plenty of grip left (I am pretty sure a cupped 182 at similar speeds would have been all over the place).
Something else that surprised me was how much quicker the demo car was then my standard car. There is 30bhp more but it felt so much quicker throughout the rev range. Unfortunately the test drive forced me into booking my car in for similar mods, my bank balance is going to feel that for a few months.
Driving back home on the Ledas, dampers set 50% front 33% rear, brought a smile to my face the car is better in every department handling wise, composed at speed, loads more feel, no roll, no squirm under braking, the ride is hard but not harsh although definately feels harder then standard. Well worth the cash IMO.
