Legal advice and advice on damage to

On thursday i ran a kid over outside a local school. He ran out from behind a bus and i could not do anything to stop, i was not breaking the speed limit. The kids fine. Not very nice but thats far beside the point now. Damage was caused to my car, way more damage than was caused to the kid. I have a witness saying that it was the kids fault, and a copper also said it wasnt my fault

Damage caused was:
R/S front wing smashed in
Bonnet dents
Windscreen smashed (repaired for £40 through insurance, not as a claim)
R/S indicator, head light, and trim below the two lights bent out of place
Front grill bent out of place
Groaning now heard when slowly reversing and on left lock, possibly wheel bearing?

Anyway, what would people recomend i do to get this payed for? I want to try and get the kids parents to pay for it as my excess is £350, but dont know how to go about this, and through who, or even if its possible. How much would this stuff cost to pay for in a decent bodyshop/garage? I dont really know what to do

I may seem heartless but because a kid doesnt know how to cross a road my car has suffered damage and i dont see why i should have to pay for it

Simply advice, small claims court, it costs £73 to have your case heard...both parties sit with an independent legal guy and outcome is decided....if you loose you dont pay other halfs legal costs...also check it out with your insurance company, you can do this if you have taken out legal cover with your policy.

or you could just go back and finish him off and get your moneys worth

only joking BTW

the kid was a big fat 13 year old. cant believe the damage hes done its quite astonishing. id hate to have to sit in a court with the parents :s was thinking of just claiming on my insurance and paying the excess, but i dont really wanna do that

how hurt was the kid??? that sounds like quite a wack to cause that much damage....

Ask your insurance for their advice on how to go about this....at 13 the kid is old enough to know how to cross the road...

do you have legal cover on your policy? if so then you are entitled to free legal advice...if you also have this policy then they are able to reclaim your costs of the third party without taking the claim thru your policy at all.

The other way is small claims courts at a cost to you of £72 to recover costs

the kid got glass from my windscreen in his arm that cut him up a bit, and thats it! he must be bionic! gonna ring police tomora for the accident number, and then my insurance for advice

The kids parents will have what is called a legal liability extension under their household insurance policy so you will be able to claim from that, if you need any advice on how to proceed with your claim pm me and i can let you know what to do
