lift reverse cable and quick shift question

Hi there im about to fit a short shift selector and ive noticed on my phase 1 172 there is a cable for the lift mech attached to the lift collar... however on the new one there is no where for the cable to attach to... sorry for poor explaining any one got any info or ideas ? any help would be appreciated as ive fucked the standard lever up and need to change it

It's not needed

The cable doesn't engage reverse or anything - it just puts tension on the knob when you lift it up

After market short shifters use an internal spring
