Lifter?

My engines ticking has started getting alot worse and louder and doing a search on here found out it could be the lifters in the engine. what sort of job is this?

i have a slight tick on mine and fred said its the dephaser and it will end up sounding like a diesel

the lifters do NOT fail. it will be early signs of dephaser giving up the ghost

front camshaft pulley = dephaser, £166, plus a belt change, plus an oil and filter change

Ok the ticking has startd getting alot worse now anyone around wiltshire wanna have a look at my car so i kow exactly what to go by.

Check your auxiliary pulleys. Iv had broken ones in the past that give a ''ticking'' noise as the belt spins round

Its coming from the engine at top near where it says renault sport on the inlets, as when i listen there and get my mate rev it the noise gets louder there.

Ah most likely the dephaser then. Noice will be echoing along the inlet cam and plenum top

Ah so it will be what fred said. its getting on my nerves now so loud that people now say your engine sounds rough... ahh cheers then.
