Light in Cig Lighter/ashtray area

When I removed the cig lighter the other night and opened the ashtray, I noticed that there was no light in that area, but I remember from having a 172 that there was a bulb behind there that illuminated it orange.

Car is a 182 Cup.

Am I right in thinking there should be some light from said area when lights are switched on?

The cig lighter doesnt illiminate at all.
Dont know whether to check for bulb/fuse or not yet.:S

there is a bulb around the cig lighter and it shines the light into the ashtray

all you need to do is
take the cig lighter off and change the bulb.

i used a stanley blade to take the bulb out of the holder.
the bulb will break so just do it over the bin or counter top

Its the mrs' car, so I will have a look at the weekend - always too dark by the time I get in from work.

Same here, was broke in both cars so I assumed they might not have even put it in such low spec models, could just be the bulb though.

No as far as I seem to remember, it is a clear bulb, but the cig lighter/ashtray area has an orange opaque cover dividing the two.

my LOW spec(manual window,no central locking,sh!itty headlights,14"rims) 1.2

had a bulb in it but it was just blown.so i'd say all the MK2 clios had bulbs in them

JMR is right it is a clear bulb but the the cig lighter/ashtray are orange plastic colour.
to change the bulb colour you need to change the cig holder to a clear one(i got one out of a MK2 laguna 2004(i think))
and just take off the orange one in the ash tray.

I got some ebay special version with a blue surround :rasp:

The old was was a pain in the arse to take off though, pretty much scraped all of the plastic trim around the socket itself because it was wedged in so hard
