Light/scratches in laquer

  Black 182 FF
Over the 18 months or so I've had my car it's picked up many little scars - some far too easily like today on the door when the hose brushed against it and bits of grit on it managed to scratch a few areas on the drivers door. Luckily a bit of polish on it means you can't really see them, but I was wondering if there was anything I could do, some kind of mild cutting compound or something that I could use to polish them out a touch.

Bare in mind I'm a rank amateur when it comes to body work, is there anything I can do to tidy it up?

Got some of the Meguiars scratch x and started using it yesterday, just doing it by hand and at first I thought I was wasting my time. Having gone over the areas a few times now and putting in more and more effort I actually think it's a decent enough product.

Yeah it hasn't totally got the scratches out and it's no miracle cure, but it has made them a bit lesser than they were. I've just ordered a Autoglym SRP kit and so next week I think I'll go over the scratches again (as I done the full car this time) and then go over the car with the SRP in the hope it'll fill some of them making them less noticable.
